I am interested in what God is doing collectively in our nation across denominational lines and across the world, too, for that matter.
I anticipate what God wants to do through our family of Nazarene churches to touch the world and the universal Church. How will various churches from various background express God's heart to each other and offer pure faith, hope and love to one another?
I know we have liberty in non-essentials and this gives us a privilege to unite with other believers on the essentials and give grace and liberty on anything else.
I believe God wants to unite all his people into one church, Christ's body, to make the body whole again, with Jesus as the head. With the decades of globalization and world wide web of things, this is now more possible than ever. [Doctrines, methods, styles, personalities even buildings and programs can easily divide us and can easily be idolized. We can label people who "have" or "have not." The evil one loves this about us.]
I celebrate efforts for local churches to be unified in Christ. For example, this month, there is a gathering of believers in Washington D.C. on the Mall, in association with the National Prayer Committee, called Together 2016 (www.reset2016.com). As another example, Franklin Graham is going to all 50 states and conducting prayer rallies on the state capital building steps. Columbus, OH is on Oct 6.
I hope churches in a community can unite as, a few Sunday ago, I showed a movie clip of this happening in An Appalachian Dawn.
Check out my www.vimeo.com/natestults/collections for a few clips of Together 2016.
